India, Feb. 20 -- Coimbatore Police in Tamil Nadu arrested a school teacher on Wednesday on charges of sexually assaulting female students, officials said. According to city police commissioner A Saravana Sundar, the 57-year-old art teacher of a prominent CBSE school was taken into custody following a complaint from the school's principal. Several girls reported to the principal that the teacher "behaved inappropriately" during classes and on other occasions. Ten students also lodged a formal complaint with the police on Wednesday. The teacher was then arrested under Sections 9 (aggravated sexual assault) and 10 (punishment for aggravated sexual assault) of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act. htc
