tmc suspends mla after claims on babri masjid
Kolkata, Dec. 5 -- The Trinamool Congress (TMC) on Thursday suspended party legislator Humayun Kabir, days after he stoked controversy by claiming that he will lay the foundation stone of Babri Masjid in West Bengal's Murshidabad district on December 6, marking 33 years since the Ayodhya structure's demolition.
"We don't believe in communal politics. Kabir was warned thrice in the past by the party's disciplinary committee. But, now he has again done this. With the consent of the party's chairperson and the national general secretary, the party is suspending him. He will have no relation with the party," Kolkata mayor and state minister Firhad Hakim said in Kolkata.
