Kolkata, July 14 -- A zonal unit president of the Trinamool Congress (TMC) was shot dead in Birbhum district of West Bengal on Sunday, police said. "The victim, Pijush Ghosh, left home on his motorcycle around 12.30am after receiving a phone call. His body, bearing a bullet injury in the head, was found on the road outside the home of a woman who raised an alarm," a police officer said. "The woman, Mousumi Mal, said she saw a man shooting Ghosh from behind around 2 am. A preliminary probe revealed that Ghosh went to meet the woman and she was standing at the main door when Ghosh was shot. It appears he died on the spot." This was the third murder of a TMC leader in the last few days.
