MUMBAI, March 27 -- It is cruelty if a spouse threatens to implicate an individual by threatening to die by suicide, the Bombay high court has held, upholding the divorce granted to a man whose wife had often made such threats.
The order, delivered by a single-judge bench of justice RM Joshi, came on an appeal filed by the woman who challenged a family court verdict in 2017.
The husband had approached the lower court for divorce after eight years of marriage, stating that the woman often threatened to die by suicide and blamed him and his elderly parents for it.
During one such incident, she inflicted injuries on herself that were non-fatal. P10
