Thousands write to SC over stray dog directive
New Delhi, Nov. 30 -- Animal welfare activists across the country sent thousands of letters to the Chief Justice of India and the Supreme Court on Saturday, urging a reconsideration of the November 7 order on stray dogs.
At Delhi's Gole Dak Khana GPO, people began gathering from 9am, many carrying stacks of letters collected door to door. "I printed the letters and went door to door. I collected 800 letters and around Rs.1500," said Jasmeet Kaur, 47.
Volunteers at the GPO assisted visitors by distributing letter formats and writing sheets and helping with stamps and addresses.
Students, working professionals and senior citizens participated.
