Pune, April 11 -- There was a wide smile on the face when Maaya Rajeshwaran Revathi was asked about being handed her first India jersey earlier this week. But she's quick to remind, "first time in the seniors, I've played a few times in the juniors."
The 15-year-old is in Pune as a reserve for the India team competing in the Aisa/Oceania Group 1 stage of the Billie Jean King Cup. She has been sitting patiently on the sidelines, soaking in the experience of what it's like to play in the premier women's tennis team event. Given her age, she is officially a junior, but the lines between the age groups have started to blur. In February, as an unranked player, she rose from qualifiers to reach the semi-final of the WTA Mumbai Open.
