hennai-born Srinivas Narayanan got his first tryst with artificial intelligence (AI) in 1994. About 30 years later, he is leading engineering efforts that define OpenAI's efforts across products, including ChatGPT. It isn't easy to have these products work reliably and efficiently at the scale which ChatGPT achieves - about 700 million weekly active users. No scale looks imposing to Narayanan, who has previously led large engineering teams at Meta. He is also the president and co-founder of The Narayanan Family Foundation, and is a strong advocate for the transformative capability of AI, and believes AI will enable businesses to achieve more with existing teams by amplifying individual effectiveness.
