Kolkata, Sept. 19 -- The school teacher arrested on Wednesday from Rampurhat in Bengal's Birbhum district confessed to murdering the Class 7 student whose dismembered body was recovered but denied the charge of rape, police said. "The teacher confessed during interrogation that he murdered the girl from his school but his statements and circumstantial evidences do not point at rape. This is still under investigation," Rahul Mishra, additional district superintendent of police (headquarters), said on Thursday. The girl, a member of a tribal community, went missing on August 28 while on her way to a private tutorial class.
