India, Feb. 1 -- The Pakistan team will not take the field in their league match against India in the upcoming T20 World Cup beginning on February 7. This decision was announced by the Pakistan government on Sunday evening. Pakistan has been cleared to participate in the remainder of the month-long tournament to be played in India and Sri Lanka.
"The Government of Islamic Republic of Pakistan grants approval to the Pakistan cricket team to participate in the ICC World T20 2026. However, the Pakistan cricket team shall not take the field in the match scheduled on 15th February, 2026 against India," a Government of Pakistan post on X said.
