Hyderabad, March 7 -- The Telangana cabinet on Thursday approved a draft bill on sub-categorisation of the scheduled caste quota for education and employment, people familiar with the matter said, setting the stage for fulfilling a long-pending but controversial demand by some groups.
The cabinet meeting, chaired by chief minister A Revanth Reddy, discussed in detail the interim report submitted by a one-person commission headed by retired high court judge justice Shameem Akhhar on dividing the SC quota into three groups.
"The deadline given to the Shameem Akhtar commission for submitting the final report has been extended till March 10. Based on his recommendations, the bill will be finalised and will be introduced in the upcoming budget...
