India, March 18 -- National Aeronautics and Space Administration (NASA) astronauts Sunita Williams and Butch Wilmore, who have been stranded on the International Space Station (ISS) for more than nine months, have begun their journey back to Earth aboard a SpaceX capsule, with the first leg of the trip - the undocking from ISS - taking place on Tuesday.

Wilmore and Williams, seated inside a Crew Dragon capsule with two other crew members, Roscosmos cosmonaut Aleksandr Gorbunov and NASA astronaut Nick Hague, undocked from the ISS at 1:05 am New York time on Tuesday.
NASA shared the video of the spacecraft's undocking from the space station as the 17-hour-long journey started.
