India, Oct. 14 -- The maintenance and repair work of streetlights in several south Delhi areas have been affected, leaving the localities in pitch dark conditions after sunset, residents' welfare associations (RWAs) have complained.

With less than a week left for Diwali, residents accused the civic body of turning a deaf ear to the complaints, delaying the repair, and installing makeshift re-wires. This, they said, causes risk of electrocution.
