Strategic projects in Assam will ensure security across NE: Sarma
GUWAHATI, Feb. 16 -- Security in the northeast is of prime concern and several strategic projects are underway to ensure there's no loss of connectivity to the region in case of an attack from an enemy nation, Assam chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Sunday.
Sarma's comments came a day after Prime Minister Narendra Modi inaugurated an emergency landing facility (ELF) on a national highway at Moran in Assam's Dibrugarh district and two days after the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs, chaired by the PM, approved the construction of a twin-tube road-cum-rail project underneath the Brahmaputra in the state connecting Numaligarh to Gohpur.
