India, March 17 -- In a significant step towards improving the employability of arts stream students, the government has introduced a collaboration between universities and polytechnic institutes. As part of this initiative, students from the arts stream will have the opportunity to enroll in 14 skill-based courses, including solar panel installation, electrical work, and web development, allowing them to earn up to 16 academic credits.
The University of Mumbai (MU) is set to roll out these polytechnic courses from the 2025-26 academic year, aligning with the objectives of the National Education Policy (NEP). The initiative aims to equip students with practical technical skills, enhancing their prospects in an evolving job market.
