India, Feb. 26 -- The Maharashtra government on Tuesday cleared the state data policy, which will help in effective implementation of schemes and projects. The government wants to cross-verify beneficiaries under various welfare schemes to ensure there is no duplication like it has happened with the Mukhyamantri Majhi Ladki Bahin Yojana, and the data policy will help in these efforts, said officials. A state-level authority under the Maharashtra Institution for Transformation (MITRA) has also been formed to aid the efforts, the officials noted.

The data policy was approved during the state cabinet meeting held on Tuesday.
