Chandigarh, March 27 -- The Cabinet minister Krishan Kumar Bedi informed the assembly that the government employees can use social media platforms to create content of literary, artistic, or scientific nature. Responding to a question asked during the Question Hour, Bedi said that if a government employee earns up to Rs.8,000 per year through literary, cultural, artistic, scientific, or technical efforts, and if such efforts do not involve the knowledge acquired during their service, they are allowed to retain the income. However, if the earnings exceed Rs.8,000 per year, the employee must deposit one-third of the additional amount into the state treasury.
