Mumbai, Sept. 29 -- Srihari Nataraj ended a 16-year medal wait for India at the Asian Aquatics Championships on Sunday. And then, the floodgates opened - not just for the ace swimmer who doubled his individual medal count, but also the Indian contingent that tripled their tally.
On the opening day of the 11th edition of the continental swimming event held in the new look Veer Savarkar Sports Complex in Ahmedabad, Srihari pocketed two silver medals, in the men's 200m freestyle and 50m backstroke. He was also part of the men's 4x100m medley relay team that took the bronze.
The 24-year-old Srihari began the evening session by opening India's account in the 200m freestyle, his timing of 1:48.47s only behind young Chinese talent Haibo Xu (1:46.8...
