New Delhi, July 1 -- The National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) has informed the National Green Tribunal (NGT) that it constructed a 1.2km-long flyover at an additional cost of Rs.60 crore to avoid disturbing a village pond in Goyla Khurd, southwest Delhi, during the construction of the Urban Extension Road-2 (UER-2).
Responding to the NGT's suo motu proceedings from October 2023-initiated after a media report alleged that a protected water body was being built over-NHAI, in its May 16 submission (uploaded June 28), said the decision to build a bridge instead of an at-grade road adhered to established engineering and sustainability norms.
