BETTIAH, Dec. 1 -- At least five people died and eight others were injured after a speeding truck rammed into six motorbikes and an e-rickshaw in Bihar's East Champaran district on Sunday, police said. Deputy superintendent of police (Sadar 1) Dilip Kumar said the accident took place at Dipau Mor on NH -27, when "a speeding truck entered the service lane and rammed into several vehicles waiting to cross the road". "Prima facie, it appears that the truck driver dozed off at the wheel. A search operation has been launched to nab him," he added. Confirming five deaths, SHO Pratyush Kumar Vicky all five bodies have been sent for post-mortem examination; and the eight people injured have been admitted to Sadar hospital at Motihari.
