Bengaluru, Sept. 18 -- The Special Investigation Team (SIT) probing the Dharmasthala case found skeletal remains on Wednesday during a search in Banglegudda forest, near the Netravati bathing ghats, an SIT officer, who spoke on condition of anonymity said. The officer said that the remains have been sent for forensic analysis. The search on Wednesday involved over 50 personnel and was launched after repeated claims by a local leader, who is uncle of a 17-year-old college student who was allegedly raped and murdered on October 9, 2012. The leader claimed that he had seen decomposed bodies or skeletal remains during an earlier inspection in the same area. He has long maintained that skeletal remains are still visible in the forest.
