New Delhi, July 24 -- India's six paramilitary forces have at least 109,868 open positions against sanctioned strength, the Union home ministry said in the Rajya Sabha in response to a question from MP Derek O Brien. The reply by Nityanand Rai, minister of state for home in the home ministry, showed that the current gap is the highest since 2021, although Rai clarified that "presently 72,689 vacancies of various posts have been notified for recruitment, which are underway." The six paramilitary forces mentioned in the reply are Assam Rifles, Border Security Force, Central Reserve Police Force, Central Industrial Security Force, Indo Tibetan Border Police and Sashatra Seema Bal.
