Imphal, Dec. 9 -- Coordination Committee (CorCOM), a coalition of six banned insurgent groups of Manipur, on Monday announced total shutdown in the northeastern state to protest the likely visit of President Droupadi Murmu.
A senior police officer familiar with the matter, however, told HT: "We are not giving any official confirmation of President's visit to Manipur but we are instructed to take necessary security measures for a VVIP visit which is likely for two days on December 12 and 13 for two different events one at Imphal and another at Senapati."
The committee, in a statement issued by its media coordinator M Shak-hen, mentioned that the shutdown will be effective from 1 pm of the day the President arrives in Manipur till she leaves....
