New Delhi, March 25 -- Jailed student activist Sharjeel Imam has approached the Delhi High Court against charges framed by a city court over violence during December 2019 anti-CAA protests at Jamia Millia Islamia.

His counsel, Ahmad Ibrahim, is set to present the plea before a bench on Tuesday. Arrested in January 2020 for allegedly inciting communal tensions through edited video clips, Imam has consistently denied the allegations.

On March 7, a city court stated that Imam was not only an instigator but also one of the "kingpins" of the larger conspiracy to incite violence during the anti-CAA protests in Delhi.
