New Delhi, March 12 -- Union home and cooperation minister Amit Shah announced on Tuesday that all northeastern state capitals will have rail, air, and road connectivity by 2027, marking a step towards integrating the region with the rest of India.

Addressing the North-East Students' and Youth Parliament organised under Student Experience in Inter-State Living (SEIL), Amit Shah said, "The biggest achievement of the BJP government is that it has reduced the distance between the northeast and the rest of India. By 2027, every capital of the northeast will be connected by train, plane and road."

Shah also emphasised the northeast's cultural richness and highlighted its critical role in India's progress.
