Panaji, Dec. 8 -- Roshan Redkar, the sarpanch of Arpora village who was briefly detained in connection with the fire at the Birch By Romeo Lanue, alleged on Sunday that the village panchayat had issued a notice to demolish the nightclub in 2024 after finding out that the structure it was operating from was built without a construction licence. However, he claimed, that the notice was later stayed by officials of the Directorate of Panchayats after the property's owner filed an appeal. The state government, meanwhile, has suspended director of panchayats, Siddhi Halarnkar, and two other officials in connection with the incident.
