India, March 26 -- A 50-year-old man accused in a sexual harassment case allegedly escaped from police custody on Wednesday while undergoing treatment at Sassoon General Hospital.

He was arrested in Satara in the evening on the same day, officials confirmed.

The accused, Santosh Sathe, a resident of Mhasoli village in Karad, was arrested by Karad police in connection with a sexual harassment case registered at Karad taluka police station.

On Tuesday, he complained of chest pain and was admitted to Ward No. 18 of Sassoon.

During morning rituals, the accused escaped, said the officer.
