India, March 27 -- The stock market opened in the red as the trading session began on Thursday, March 27. Auto, pharma and mid and small-cap IT and telecom stocks fell the most.
Auto stocks fell due to US President Donald Trump's new tariffs on auto imports hurting investor sentiment.
At 9.15am, the benchmark BSE Sensex was down by 201.11 points or 0.26 per cent, reaching 77,087.39. The broader NSE Nifty opened 34.70 points down or 0.15 per cent in the red, reaching 23,452.15.
Among the 30 Sensex stocks, Tata Motors fell the most upon opening by 4.80 per cent, trading at Rs.673.95. This was followed by Axis Bank, which was down 1.39 per cent, trading at Rs.1,080.40, and Asian Paints, which was up by 0.90 per cent, trading at Rs.2,305.3...
