Bhopal, Nov. 1 -- A school in Jabalpur district of Madhya Pradesh found itself embroiled in controversy after it announced to change the weekly off for its students and staff from Sunday to Friday, citing the day's significance for Muslim prayers.
Anjuman Islamia English Medium School revoked the order on Friday after district education officer Ghanshyam Soni visited the school on Friday. "The school has withdrawn its decision as 10% of its students are Hindu," Ghanshyam said.
BJP minority cell leader Mujammil Ali, opposing the move, handed over a memorandum to the district collector on Friday.
