New Delhi, Dec. 20 -- The Supreme Court on Friday recorded the Rajasthan government's assurance that urban local body elections in the state will not be pushed beyond April 2026, while declining to interfere with a Rajasthan high court order that permits the polls to be held within that timeframe. A bench of Chief Justice of India Surya Kant and justices Joymalya Bagchi and Vipul Pancholi was hearing a plea by Congress leader Sanyam Lodha, who had challenged the high court's order and pressed for immediate municipal elections, alleging undue delay in the electoral process.
