SC seeks Kancha Gachibowli rejuvenation plan from T'gana
New Delhi, Aug. 14 -- The Supreme Court on Wednesday directed the Telangana government to present a holistic plan to rejuvenate the ecologically sensitive Kancha Gachibowli area in Hyderabad, from where hundreds of tree were cut, while reiterating its stand that sustainable development should not compromise welfare of forests and wildlife .
"Time and again we have said we are not against development. However, development has to be sustainable. While carrying out developmental activities, the interest of environment and wildlife has to be taken care of by taking mitigating and compensatory measures," a bench of chief justice of India (CJI) Bhushan R Gavai and justice K Vinod Chandran said.
