New Delhi, Nov. 7 -- The Supreme Court on Thursday sought the response of the Centre and states on a draft "Police Manual on Media Briefing" to ensure information shared by police does not result in media trial and protects the dignity and privacy of victims involved in crimes. With the exercise being unprecedented, the court granted eight weeks for the responses to be filed even as it appreciated the maker of the document - senior advocate Gopal Sankaranarayanan assisting the court as amicus curiae for putting in place an "exhaustive" document.
