New Delhi, Oct. 14 -- The Supreme Court on Monday extended the stay on criminal defamation proceedings against Leader of Opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi for a period of four weeks in a case relating to his 2022 comments on the army during the Bharat Jodo Yatra. A bench of justices MM Sundresh and Vipul M Pancholi adjourned the matter to the week commencing November 20 on a request made by Gandhi's lawyer seeking time to file his response to an affidavit filed by the Uttar Pradesh government. The top court had on August 4 stayed the defamation proceedings pending against Gandhi before a Lucknow court on a complaint filed by Uday Shankar Srivastava.
