SC directs MP to arrest accused cops by Oct 7 or face contempt action
New Delhi, Sept. 27 -- The Supreme Court on Friday told the Madhya Pradesh government to arrest two policemen facing custodial death charge by October 7 or face contempt proceedings, observing that the state must uphold the majesty of the court which directed it in May to arrest the officials.
Hearing a contempt petition against the state's additional chief secretary and the Central Bureau of Investigation filed by the victim's mother, the court directed the additional chief secretary and the investigating officer of CBI to be present in court on October 8 if the order is not complied with by then.
