India, March 25 -- The Supreme Court on Monday issued a contempt notice to the administrator of a municipal council in Maharashtra on a punitive demolition carried out against the shop and residence of a person belonging to a minority community without serving prior notice, in violation of the pan-India guidelines issued by the top court.
A bench of justices Bhushan R Gavai and Augustine George Masih sought response from Santosh Jirage, the chief officer and administrator of Malvan municipal council in Sindhudurg district, on a petition filed by Kitabulla Hamidulla Khan -- a scrap dealer by profession.
