New Delhi, Aug. 14 -- The Supreme Court on Wednesday cancelled the bail of two-time Olympic medallist Sushil Kumar, the prime accused in the 2021 murder of junior national wrestling champion Sagar Dhankar, terming the alleged offence "shocking and serious" and noting that the Delhi High Court "erred" in granting him relief despite Kumar's conduct and the possibility of him influencing the trial. A bench of justices Sanjay Karol and Prashant Kumar Mishra set aside the March 4 order of the high court, which had released Kumar on bail citing his prolonged incarceration of over three and a half years and the slow pace of trial.
