New Delhi, Nov. 11 -- The Supreme Court on Monday flagged a rising number of accidents on highways due to presence of unauthorised eateries and bad road conditions, and sought a report from National Highways Authority of India (NHAI) and the ministry of road, transport and highways (MoRTH), taking suo motu cognisance of fatal road accidents in Rajasthan and Telangana. A bench of justices JK Maheshwari and Vijay Bishnoi asked the NHAI to carry out a survey of eateries along the two highways-Bharatmala highway in Rajasthan and Hyderabad-Bijapur highway in Telangana-where the accidents took place.
