Sangma assures fast-track trial in murder case
Shillong, June 11 -- Meghalaya chief minister Conrad K Sangma on Tuesday said that the trial in the May 23 murder of Raja Raghuvanshi will be expedited and all necessary steps will be taken to ensure justice is delivered without delay, even as he raised concerns about the media coverage into the case with the state government taking legal action against media outlets and YouTubers in connection with what officials describe as "targeted attack on Meghalaya".
Speaking about the case on Tuesday, the chief minister said, "We would like the judicial process to be completed as swiftly as possible. Whatever steps are required to facilitate this from our side as a government, we will do that and try to ensure that the trial progresses quickly."
