New Delhi, Oct. 14 -- The Union labour ministry has overhauled rules under which employees can withdraw emergency cash from their provident fund accounts, merging a welter of conditionalities into three broad categories of personal financial circumstances, a statement said on Monday.
Partial withdrawals from these accounts will now be allowed under three categories: essential needs covering illness, education, marriage; funds for housing; and special circumstances. "The last category is open-ended, that may cover any permissible pressing urgency," an official said.P15
