New Delhi, Feb. 2 -- The government will launch a Rs.10,000-crore initiative over five years to position India as a global biopharma manufacturing hub and set up a second National Institute of Mental Health and Neurosciences (NIMHANS) in north India, finance minister Nirmala Sitharaman announced on Sunday while presenting the Union Budget 2026-27. The ministry of health and family welfare received an allocation of Rs.1.07 lakh crore, a 7% increase from Rs.1 lakh crore in the previous budget. The revised estimate for the current fiscal year 2025-26 was Rs.97,000 crore.
