Jaipur, April 8 -- A row erupted in Rajasthan after former BJP legislator Gayn Dev Ahuja allegedly sprinkled "Gangajal" at a temple in Alwar to "purify" it on Monday, a day after leader of opposition Tikaram Jully, who belongs to the Dalit community, visited it.

On Sunday, Jully participated in the consecration ceremony of a local Ram temple in Ramgarh. Later, a video surfaced on the social media on Monday evening purportedly showing Ahuja sprinkling Gangajal across the temple premises, evoking sharp responses from Congress leaders, including Jully and former CM Ashok Gehlot, who termed Ahuja's act an insult to a Dalit.
