Bhopal, March 3 -- Madhya Pradesh minister Prahlad Patel on Sunday stoked controversy after he said that people have got into the habit of "begging" from the government and advised them to learn from those who have sacrificed their lives for the country.

The Bharatiya Janata Party leader, who holds the panchayat and rural development portfolio in the state, took exception to people welcoming him with flowers at the unveiling ceremony of the statue of Veerangana Rani Avantibai Lodhi in Suthaliya in Rajgarh district and handing him demand letters.
