New Delhi, June 24 -- Tata Power Delhi Distribution Limited (Tata Power-DDL) on Monday commissioned India's first micro substation in Rohini's Sector 22, developed with Japan's Nissin Electric Co. Ltd. The Rs.1.5 crore unit uses a power voltage transformer (PVT) to convert high-voltage power directly into low-voltage electricity for homes, eliminating the need for a full grid. Officials said it is a cost-effective alternative to Rs.40-60 crore conventional grids. The pilot will run for a year before wider implementation, discom officials said.HTC
