India, Sept. 16 -- Former Hollywood golden boy Robert Redford, who starred in Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, passed away at the age of 89.
In a statement, Cindi Berger, CEO of the public relations agency Rogers & Cowan PMK, announced the actor and Oscar-winning director's passing. Although she did not specify the cause of his death, the New York Times claimed that Redford passed away while sleeping in the highlands outside of Provo.
With his dazzling grin, sandy blonde hair, and romantic performances opposite Jane Fonda and Barbara Streisand, Redford earned a reputation as a sex icon and a recognized actor across the world during his heyday in the 1960s and 1970s.
