LUCKNOW, Feb. 18 -- Uttar Pradesh legislative assembly speaker Satish Mahana on Wednesday asked the state government to ensure that officials respond promptly to public representatives. Expressing concern over repeated complaints from MLAs, he urged the government to reinforce existing directives and hold officers accountable for non-compliance.

Mahana issued the directions while delivering his ruling on a point of order raised by the opposition under Rule 300 on Tuesday. Opposition members said executive officers often fail to respond when legislators call them.
