India, Aug. 1 -- The Punjab and Haryana High Court ruled that an FIR pertaining to a minor's rape under the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act cannot be quashed on grounds of compromise or if the victim subsequently marries the accused.
The court noted that these compromises were illegal and contrary to the public policy, and are unenforceable under the legal system, PTI reported.
The court was hearing a case based on an FIR registered in August, 2013 at the Gurugram police station under the provisions of the Indian Penal Code (IPC) and POCSO Act.
The victim's father had alleged that his 13-year-old daughter was enticed away by the accused.
