RAHUL WRITES TO PM, SEEKS BIGGER aid for punjab
New Delhi, Sept. 18 -- Calling the relief package of Rs.1,600 crore "a grave injustice to Punjab", leader of the Opposition (LoP) in Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi has written to PM Narendra Modi, demanding a comprehensive relief package for the flood-affected state.
"During my recent visit, I witnessed the shocking devastation and its human cost. Over 4 lakh acres of paddy crop have been destroyed, and over 10 lakh animals have perished. Lakhs of people, mostly from marginalised communities have lost their homes. The flood has also rendered vast tracts of land uncultivable in the near future. Even today, thousands of acres are submerged and villages remain cut off," he said in the letter to PM on September 16.
