India, May 24 -- Congress leader and leader of the opposition in the Lok Sabha Rahul Gandhi on Saturday described the loss of lives in the recent Pakistan army shelling as a "very big tragedy" and said that he would raise the concerns of the victims of Poonch at the national level.
This was the Congress MP's second visit to the region since the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack that left 26 tourists dead. Poonch town, located about 20km from the Line of Control, witnessed heightened cross-border artillery and mortar shelling after India carried out precise strikes under Operation Sindoor on nine terror hubs in Pakistan and Pakistan-occupied Kashmir on May 7 in response to the Pahalgam massacre.
