New Delhi, Dec. 16 -- The Delhi Public Works Department (PWD) has issued a standard operating procedure (SOP) for road repair and the operation of road maintenance vans across its nearly 1,400-km arterial road network, officials said on Monday. The SOP covers not just road surfaces but also associated infrastructure, including carriageways, footpaths, central verges, side drains and other elements within the right of way. Under the new norms, road maintenance vans will operate between 9am and 5pm. Each van will be staffed by one supervisor, one mason and four workers, and will be equipped with camera systems integrated with GPS to enable real-time monitoring.
