Chandigarh, June 28 -- The mother of jailed gangster Jaggu Bhagwanpuria and his cousin Karanvir Singh were shot dead by unidentified bike-borne assailants in Batala town of Punjab's Gurdaspur district, police officers said on Friday.
CCTV footage of the incident showed an assailant riding pillion on a bike opening indiscriminate fire at the victims who were inside a stationary vehicle. The gang run by Bhagwanpuria's rival Davinder Bambiha claimed responsibility for the attack in an unverified social media post.
Bhagwanpuria, who faces 128 criminal cases, was in Punjab Police custody for singer Sidhu Moosewala's murder. P9
