Chandigarh, Feb. 17 -- The Punjab and Haryana high court on Monday dismissed a plea by suspended DIG Harcharan Singh Bhullar, 59, seeking bail in the corruption case registered by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) on October 16 last year.

On January 2, the trial court in Chandigarh had rejected his bail plea, observing that "the case constitutes a class apart being an alarming economic offence". Subsequently, Bhullar had approached the high court for bail on January 9. After hearing arguments from both sides, the plea was dismissed by the bench of justice Sumeet Goel on Monday.
